Summary
The Strap Settings define options to customize the Auto Place Straps feature.

Window Overview
Strap Settings / Straps tab

- Family Profile dropdown - Allows for a selection of a profile containing strap placement rules. Create or edit them in the Settings tab.
- Family Name dropdown - Allows for a selection of the family name of the strap to be placed. Must be in the Family Profile.
- Type Name dropdown - Allows for a selection of the type name of the strap to be placed. Must be in the Family Profile.
- Evaluate Insulation checkbox - When enabled, includes run element insulation width during placement.
- Pending Action display - If applicable, shows the unsaved status of a record; new, modified, or error.
- Error Message display - If applicable, shows a description of the error.

- Configure expansion - Once expanded, allows for the configuration of a strap profile.
- Pending Action display - If applicable, shows the unsaved status of a record; new, modified, or error.

- Applies to panel
- Family Name dropdown - Allows for a selection of the name of the strap family to be placed.
- Family Type dropdown - Allows for a selection of the type of the strap family to be placed.
- Loaded File Path display - After the Family Name is populated, shows the file path to the loaded strap family.
- Pending Action display - If applicable, shows the unsaved status of a record; new, modified, or error.
- Error Message display - If applicable, shows a description of the error.
- Available Sizes panel
- Sizes list - Allows for the entry of available diameters for the strap family to be placed.

Family Requirements
- Strut strap families will need to be face-based.
- Strut straps can be placed against existing evolve families that are or contain a strut family with pipes of all valid sizes 3/8” - 9”.
- Strut straps can placed against a custom family with the nested strap window family with pipes of all valid sizes 3/8” - 9”.

- Family should have a cubic geometry with parameters for controlling geometric dimensions.
- Family should have an orientation side/surface that is clearly visible in the family editor.
- Orientation side/surface will determine the plane that the strap is placed on, effective the strap is placed “on top” of this plane.

Tips and Tricks
- Placed strut straps will move with the strut families or hanger families containing the nested strap window family.
- If the hanger or pipe is deleted, then EVOLVE does not automatically delete the associated straps. The straps will have to be deleted by the user in addition to the hanger or pipe.
