Place RFA Stiffeners enables the automatic placement of RFA-based stiffeners on ITM duct.
Prerequisites
Usage
- On the eVolve Mechanical tab, click Place RFA Stiffeners in the Quick Tools panel.
- When the Select straight duct element(s) to place stiffeners prompt appears, click each straight duct segment you want to reinforce. Leave Multiple checked to keep selecting additional duct runs in the same pass.
- Click Finish (or press Enter) once you've selected all the duct you want to reinforce.
- eVolve places the stiffeners along the selected duct while a Placing stiffeners on duct progress bar displays.
- Click Cancel, or press Esc at any point, to exit the tool without placing stiffeners.

Selection Prompt
- Instruction bar — Reads "Select straight duct element(s) to place stiffeners. (Press ESC to cancel/end)" and stays visible while the tool is active.
- If using the EVOLVE Selection Method -
- Multiple — Checkbox. Leave checked to select more than one duct segment before finishing; uncheck it to place stiffeners on a single selection automatically.
- Finish — Confirms your selection and places stiffeners on all selected duct.
- Cancel — Exits the tool without placing any stiffeners.
- Using Standard Revit Selection -
- Select Straights
- Select Finish in top left
Progress Dialog
While eVolve places the stiffeners, a Place RFA Stiffeners progress dialog shows a progress bar and the status "Placing stiffeners on duct." Click Cancel in this dialog to stop the operation early.
Tips and Tricks
- The Place RFA Stiffeners button includes a dropdown arrow that may expose additional placement settings — check there if you need to adjust how stiffeners are placed beyond what's covered here.
- You can select duct across multiple, non-contiguous runs in a single pass — just keep Multiple checked and click each run before clicking Finish.
- Only straight duct accepts stiffeners; if a fitting is included in your selection, it's skipped.
