Location Settings

Summary

Location Settings gives ultimate control to location data. This feature allows control and creation of location status’ in addition to filtering, coloring, and dozens of options to customize location views, schedules, and sheets.

Location Settings tab

  1. Location Status- The Location Status panel allows users to add and define any status when a sheet is created. Simply enter a status parameter and select the color to apply that will be visible in the Location Breakdown manager.
  2. Change Status on Sheet Creation- When a new sheet is created, the status selected in the drop-down menu will be applied to the sheet's status field.
  3. Percentage Fill - applies to overlapping locations and determines when to concatenate values.

Views panel
Naming panel
  • Select Parameter(s) menu - defines the parameter(s) within the location family used to name the created view.
  • If duplicate exists - used to define which option is taken if the function finds a duplicate view name, which is not allowed in Revit. The options are:
    • Add suffix to new (Default) - adds a number to the end of the name.
    • Prompt at each occurrence - displays a prompt with the available options.
    • Override existing - removes the original and replaces it with the new one.
    • Rename existing with suffix - adds a number to the existing name and keeps the new name as entered.
    • Do not create new - will not create the new view.

 NOTE: While users can specify a value to apply to parameter naming fields, the Select Parameter(s) field is also a menu containing Revit and eVolve parameters. The parameters may be appended or chained together for a more applicable name.

View Creation panel
  • Viewport Crop Region panel - determines the extents of the view beyond the selected location. Negative values will make the region smaller, and positive values will make the region larger.
  • Viewport Scaling panel - these options allow for scaling selected views to fit their locations on a sheet. Choose to scale to fit plan views or 3D ortho views (Default).
View Template panel

Used to assign or apply the View Template.

Used to apply various options to the following:

  • Plan Views
  • 3D Views
  • Section Views
  • Elevation Views
  • Orientation Directions
Scope Boxes panel
  • Rotate view based on scope box checkbox- When checked, the location's view will match the rotation of the scope box in which the location is contained.
  • Automatically Assign Scopebox checkbox - when checked, the location's view will match the rotation of the scope box in which the location is contained.

Sheets panel

In the project browser, each location schedule title comprises a sheet number and name.

Numbering panel
  • Starting Number - This option defines the sheet starting number when sheet(s) is created. Users can define a prefix value to be placed before the number. For example, a prefix value of B1 will result in subsequent sheets numbered B1, B2, B3, etc…
  • Select parameter(s) menu - defines the parameter(s), within the location family, used to name the sheet number.
  • If duplicate exists menu - used to define which option is taken if the function finds a duplicate sheet name, which is not allowed in Revit. The options are:

  • Select Parameter(s) menu - defines the parameter(s), within the location family, used to name the created schedule. If the function finds a duplicate schedule name, which is not allowed in Revit.
  • If duplicate exists - used to define which option is taken if the function finds a duplicate schedule name, which is not allowed in Revit. The options are:
    • Add suffix to new (Default) - adds a number to the end of the name.
    • Prompt at each occurrence - displays a prompt with the available options.
    • Override existing - removes the original and replaces it with the new one.
    • Rename existing with suffix - adds a number to the existing name and keeps the new name as entered.
    • Do not create new - will not create a new schedule.
Filtering panel

This feature defines which filter is dynamically inserted into the newly created schedules.

  • Filter by menu - defines which parameter, within the location family, is used for filtering.
  • Select Condition menu - lists the conditional options to apply to the filter parameter.
  • Apply parameter menu - defines the parameter value to apply to the filter condition.
